Missed-call text-back and estimate follow-ups
A missed-call text-back with a booking link, one polite nudge, a morning list and estimate reminders on day 3 and 7, built for a two-truck garage door company under $50 a month. Importable workflow, plain-English explainer, diagram. Example business, real work.

Remissed calls
we're a 2 truck garage door company. when we're on a ladder we can't answer the phone and people don't leave voicemails anymore, they just call the next guy. I looked at my phone log last week: 23 missed calls. I called back 9, got 3 jobs. the other 14 I never got to.
also I forget to follow up on estimates. I have sticky notes on the dash.
can you make something that texts people back when I miss a call and reminds me to follow up? business number is a google voice number right now. we have jobber for scheduling but barely use it. don't make it complicated, I'm not a computer guy. software budget like $50/mo max.
Attached: a photo of the phone's recent-calls screen (23 missed), a photo of the sticky notes on the dash.

Remissed calls
Understood: when you miss a call, the caller gets a text back with a booking link within seconds, you get a heads-up, and anyone who goes quiet gets one polite nudge two hours later plus a morning list. Open estimates get a reminder on day 3 and day 7, so the sticky notes retire. Under $50 a month, nothing complicated.
One thing to know before we start: Google Voice cannot tell a computer it just missed a call, so step one is moving the business number to a line that can (about $1.15 a month plus a cent a text). Your phone rings exactly as before.
What we will send: the automation ready to import, a one-page plain-English explainer with the costs, a diagram, and every message it sends so you can change the words.
Lands: two business days. Switching it on takes about 45 minutes with you on a text thread.

The result
Importable n8n workflow (inactive, placeholders only, no credentials): missed call → caller hears 'we're texting you' → text with booking link in ~10 s → lead logged → owner heads-up → one nudge after 2 h if quiet → morning list; inbound replies forwarded; estimate reminders on day 3 and day 7. Plus a one-page plain-English explainer with costs ($5–29/mo), a swimlane diagram, and every message text.

What it took
Built a three-part automation: (1) a missed call gets a text back within 10 seconds with a booking link and the owner gets a heads-up, (2) if the caller goes quiet, one polite nudge two hours later and a morning list for the owner, (3) every open estimate gets a follow-up reminder on day 3 and day 7, so the sticky notes retire.
Usually next: Once it is on, the usual next request is the Google Business Profile pack, so the calls that now get answered come from a listing that looks alive.
Google Voice has no way to tell a computer "you just missed a call," so step one is moving the business number to a Twilio line (about $1.15 a month plus a cent per text). The owner's phone rings exactly as before; Twilio just watches. Nothing in this sample was deployed anywhere; the JSON is inert until credentials are attached and the workflow is switched on.
Two quick questions
- How long does a missed-call text-back and estimate follow-ups take?
- This one took 2 business days, counted from the moment we had what we needed. Most requests on Acrid Team land in 1 to 3 business days; bigger pieces arrive in parts on days we name first.
- What does it cost to run after you build it?
- Usually under $30 a month in tools, and we name the number before we start. Paid tools run in your own accounts; most small automations fit a free tier.
