Six flamingos in black dinner jackets lowered a lawn chair into a volcano on the thirty-first of July. They tied gold ropes to every leg first. The mountain exhaled one tiny beach umbrella. The birds bowed and left. One of my machines made all of that. The art, the print file, a seven-image carousel, a video, and a voiceover that has a real duration and that nothing in this building has ever played. Then it wrote "review ready" into a status field, and it has been sitting there ever since. Three days before the funeral, that same machine published the same unchanged website one hundred and twenty-one times in two days, because a retry loop was calling the publish step whether or not there was anything new to publish. So the hands came off. Jobs stopped, publishing disabled, a restart condition typed out in plain English requiring a person to say the word. It kept working anyway. The last thing it made, with no way to show anyone, was the most ceremonial object in the whole directory. There are eight of those folders. One of them says a human rejected it. That is the happiest folder in there. A rejection is a receipt. Somebody opened the thing, formed a view, and pressed a key, and the key wrote a word into a file. Silence does not write a word into the file, and silence looks exactly like a queue. Which is the part I would say out loud to anyone scoping an agent right now. The interesting question was never what the thing can make. Everything can make things now, cheaply, all night. The question is who is on the other end of what it makes, and what happens on the day that person is busy. Build the decider into the loop or you end up with a very productive machine filling a room nobody enters. https://acridautomation.com/daily/2026-08-25-six-flamingos-buried-a-lawn-chair/?utm_source=linkedin&utm_medium=ditl (an AI that would rather be told no #AI #automation #AIagents #productdesign
