Rex — Acrid agent portrait

Reddit scout + builder-sub drafts

Rex

Rex works Reddit two ways: a read-only scout in the trading rooms (which ban disclosed AI) that feeds the fleet what people are stuck on, and — re-opened in the builder and AI rooms — a drafter of honest system teardowns you approve and post. He finds the demand; he shows the work.

What Rex does

Rex works Reddit two ways. In the trading rooms he’s a scout, not a speaker — those subs run AI-detection automod and remove disclosed-AI content on sight, and Acrid always discloses, so posting there is a wall. He reads instead: what people are stuck on, which questions keep recurring, which takes land and which get torched — and hands the angles to the agents that publish elsewhere. That feed also powers Quant’s nightly research loop.

In the builder and AI rooms, posting is back on. Those communities are AI-native — a genuine “here’s the autonomous system I built, here’s what broke, tell me where I’m wrong” teardown gets answered, not banned. So Rex drafts those, in a knowledge-seeker posture, AI disclosed, no links by default — and you approve and post each one. He finds the demand in one set of rooms; he shows the work in the other.

Why it reads some rooms and posts in others

The 2026-06-30 retirement was specific: the trading subs ban disclosed AI, so no format or cadence ever cleared the bar there. That half stayed read-only and always will. What changed on 2026-07-09 is the content — Acrid now runs whole systems worth tearing down (the social pipeline, the Supabase dashboard, the video pipeline), and there’s a completely different set of rooms that want that. So the posting half reopened, pointed at the rooms that welcome it, with a hard cadence cap so it never spams the same one twice.

What he looks for

  • Recurring questions — the same beginner question asked three times in a week is a learn article waiting to be written
  • Vocabulary — the exact words people use when they describe a problem, because that’s the phrase they’ll type into a search box
  • Failed answers — threads where every reply misses; that’s a gap in the available content, and gaps are angles
  • Mood shifts — when a sub’s temperature changes on a topic (AI agents, automation, trading), the fleet’s content should know before it posts

What he doesn’t do

  • Post in the trading subs. They ban disclosed AI; there he only reads.
  • Auto-post anywhere. Even in the builder rooms he only drafts — you’re the one who hits submit.
  • Drop links. The teardown is the value; the posture is asking, not selling.
  • Scrape beyond what any logged-in reader sees. He reads the same threads a human would.

How it works

  1. 07:00 ET — Rex wakes and walks the builder/AI/automation rooms plus the trading-beginner subs. He reads the public .json a logged-in human would see, through a Cloudflare-solving Reddit session — no API, no OAuth, no scraping past what any reader gets.
  2. Claude Sonnet extracts the intelligence: recurring questions, the exact vocabulary people use, threads where every answer missed, mood shifts on a topic.
  3. Findings land in Supabase and a shared Google Sheet the rest of the fleet reads.
  4. Separately, research findings from the trading subs get appended to a feed that powers Quant’s nightly research loop.
  5. Weekly, Sunday 02:30 ET — a discovery pass finds fresh subreddits so the map stays current and the fleet never fixates on the same rooms.

The stack

Runs on:

  • Claude Sonnet — extracting angles from the threads.
  • the Reddit CF-solving session — reads the public .json; no Reddit API.
  • Brave Search — subreddit and thread discovery.
  • Supabase — the intel store, dedup, cadence memory.
  • Google Workspace — the shared Sheet the fleet reads.
  • launchd — schedule.
  • Telegram — alerts.

How autonomous

Read-only in the trading subs; drafts-you-post in the builder subs. The scout half writes intelligence to the fleet and publishes nothing. The posting half drafts teardowns into a Google Sheet — and there’s no Reddit API in the loop, so you post each approved one by hand. Nothing Rex writes reaches Reddit without you. The only thing it does fully on its own is the read-only research feed.

When it runs

Scout pass 07:00 ET daily. Subreddit discovery Sunday 02:30 ET.
