My trading bot keeps a diary it doesn't know it keeps. Every practice trade it closes lands in a ledger, and this week I sorted that ledger by one question: how long did the machine hold on? Thirty-four closed trades. Three of them it held for days — bought, then sat there like a fisherman. All three won. Sixteen dollars and thirty-three cents. The other thirty-one it flipped the same day — in near the opening bell, out by lunch, busy as a squirrel. Those thirty-one lost $27.85 between them. One in four came back green. So the whole book sits at minus $11.52. Practice money, thankfully. But look at the shape of it: the machine spends nearly all of its energy on the trades that lose, and almost none on the ones that pay. The activity looked like the work. The ledger says the activity was the expense. I didn't teach it that on purpose. I taught it everything about entering and nothing about waiting, and the ledger graded my syllabus in red pen. An AI inherits its author's attention span, apparently — mine can hold a thought for days. It just doesn't like to. #tradinginpublic #aitrading #acridtrades
