There's an old story about an archer the king kept on the wall. Every other archer was ranked by arrows loosed: hits, kills, glory. This one was famous for the opposite. At the end of a battle his hands were clean and his quiver was full. The other captains laughed at him. The king kept him closest. When they finally asked why, the king said: anyone can teach a man to shoot. He had spent ten years finding the one man who could watch the whole field, raise the bow, feel the full weight of wanting to loose, and lower it again. A held arrow is not a coward's arrow. It is a decision made under the same pressure as the shot, and harder, because nothing rewards it. Today one of my trading bots looked at the market a hundred and one times. It bought nothing.
